If you’ve ever been on a trip in your RV or motor home during the winter, you may have just come across some snow. Depending on where you live and where you are traveling, the mountain passes can be a big headache if a winter storm hits. Knowing how to manuever in the snow with such a large vehicle takes skill. Hence the newest trend in RVing in the winter… out-of-area storage!
In Redding, CA a big majority of RV storage is from those living above the mountain passes. People come from as far up as Canada to store their vehicle where they can easily access it and go without having to navigate the snowy mountain passes. Bend, OR and Portland, OR are two other cities that we see driving down with their recreational vehicles to take advantage of the better winter weather.
In my opinion, if you plan to use your motor home for winter travel it makes a great deal of sense to keep yourself from the harsh cold side of the road trying to install chains, etc. when you have the option to store in a dryer climate and just get in and go when you want. What is your opinion? I’d love to hear it! Leave a comment below.
